Your Collision Repair Questions, Answered
We know the repair process can feel overwhelming. Find clear answers below β or give us a call and we'll walk you through everything.
We've compiled answers to the questions we hear most from customers in Arundel, Kennebunk, Biddeford, and across southern Maine. Don't see yours? Call or stop by β we're always happy to help.
The Repair Process
Repair time varies based on the extent of damage, parts availability, and your vehicle's make and model. Minor cosmetic repairs may take 2β3 days, while more significant structural or collision repairs can take 1β2 weeks or longer.
We provide a time estimate when we write your repair order, and we communicate throughout the process so you always know where your vehicle stands. If anything changes β like a parts delay β we'll reach out immediately.
Our process follows a clear sequence:
- Intake & damage assessment β we document all damage thoroughly
- Estimate & insurance coordination β we write a detailed estimate and submit to your insurer
- Parts ordering β we source OEM or insurer-approved parts before your drop-off
- Structural & body repairs β frame straightening, panel work, welding as needed
- Paint matching & refinishing β computerized color matching for a seamless finish
- Reassembly & quality inspection β every system is checked before you pick up
Yes β that's exactly our goal. We use computerized color-matching technology to blend paint seamlessly with your existing finish. For structural repairs, we use manufacturer-specified procedures and equipment to restore your vehicle to pre-accident geometry.
Our repairs are backed by a lifetime warranty on workmanship and finish, so if anything doesn't look or perform right, we make it right β at no cost to you.
We welcome walk-ins for estimates during business hours (MonβFri, 8amβ5pm). For vehicle drop-off and repair, we do schedule in advance to ensure we have the right parts and bay availability ready for your vehicle.
The easiest way to start is to request a free estimate online or call us at (207) 604-7291.
We work closely with local rental car companies and can help coordinate a rental during your repair. If your accident was covered by insurance, rental coverage is often included in your policy β we can help you navigate that process as well.
ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems β the sensors, cameras, and radar modules that power features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and backup cameras.
After a collision, windshield replacement, or any work near sensors, these systems must be recalibrated to manufacturer specifications. Driving with an uncalibrated system can cause it to malfunction or trigger false alerts β creating a serious safety risk.
We perform in-house ADAS calibration. If your vehicle needs it, we'll include it in your repair scope automatically.
Insurance & Claims
Yes β we work with all major insurance carriers. We are a Direct Repair Program (DRP) partner with State Farm, GEICO, and MMG (Maine Mutual Group), which means claims are handled smoothly and directly between us and those insurers.
For all other carriers, we can still work directly with your adjuster and submit documentation on your behalf. We handle the paperwork so you don't have to.
You have the legal right to choose any licensed repair facility in Maine β your insurance company cannot force you to use a specific shop. This is protected under Maine state law.
If your insurer recommends a "preferred" shop, you can politely decline. We're a DRP shop for major carriers and can coordinate everything directly.
Your deductible is due at vehicle pickup once repairs are complete. We do not require it upfront. The insurance company pays us directly for the approved repair amount, and you pay your deductible portion when you collect your vehicle.
If you have questions about what your deductible covers, we're happy to walk through your repair order with you line by line before you sign anything.
This is called a "supplement" situation, and it's very common. Insurance adjusters sometimes miss hidden damage that's only visible once a vehicle is disassembled.
When this happens, we contact your insurer directly, document the additional damage with photos and line items, and negotiate the supplement on your behalf. You are never responsible for the gap between the initial estimate and the actual repair cost β as long as the work is covered by your claim.
That depends on your policy and insurer β it's a question best directed to your insurance agent. Factors like fault determination, your claims history, and the size of the claim all play a role.
In some cases, especially when you're not at fault, a claim won't raise your rates. We can give you the repair cost information needed to make that decision before you commit to filing.
We always recommend OEM parts for quality, fit, and safety. Many insurance policies specify aftermarket or like-kind-and-quality (LKQ) parts to reduce costs. As an I-CAR Gold Class shop with multiple OEM certifications, we know which repairs require OEM parts for safety reasons β and we'll advocate for them with your insurer when it matters.
You also have the right to request OEM parts and pay the difference if your insurer won't cover them. We can explain your options clearly.
Estimates & Pricing
Yes. Our estimates are always free with no obligation. Bring your vehicle to our shop at 1513 Portland Road, Arundel during business hours (MonβFri, 8amβ5pm), or submit a request online to get started.
Our written estimates are thorough and based on a visual inspection of your vehicle. We use industry-standard estimating software and account for labor, parts, and materials.
That said, hidden damage is sometimes only revealed during disassembly. If we find additional damage beyond the initial estimate, we'll document it, photograph it, and walk you through what's needed before proceeding β and we'll handle any supplemental claim with your insurer.
We can give you a general sense of repair scope based on photos, but a written estimate requires an in-person inspection. Every vehicle and collision is different β we need to see your vehicle to give you accurate numbers.
You can submit photos and your contact info online to start the conversation, and we'll follow up to schedule an in-person look.
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. For insurance claims, the insurer pays us directly and you pay only your deductible at pickup.
Quality & Certifications
I-CAR Gold Class is the highest industry-wide achievement in collision repair training. It means our technicians complete ongoing, role-specific training every year to stay current with the latest vehicle technology, materials, and repair methods.
Fewer than 20% of collision repair shops nationwide hold this designation. It ensures that the people working on your vehicle know how to repair it correctly β including today's high-strength steel, aluminum, and advanced safety systems.
We hold OEM certifications from: FCA (Fiat Chrysler / Stellantis), GM (General Motors), OEC (Original Equipment Certification), Hyundai, INFINITI, Kia, Nissan, and Subaru. Each certification requires brand-specific training, approved equipment, and ongoing compliance.
This means we repair these vehicles using the exact methods and materials each manufacturer specifies β which is especially important for structural repairs, paint matching, and ADAS systems. View all our certifications.
Our Lifetime Warranty covers workmanship defects and paint/finish defects for as long as you own the vehicle. If a repair we performed fails or the paint peels, chips, or fades prematurely, we will make it right at no charge.
The warranty does not cover new accidents, normal wear and tear, or damage caused by improper maintenance. It transfers if you sell the vehicle within a reasonable timeframe.
Yes. Our technicians hold I-CAR role-specific certifications and complete annual training updates. Our OEM-certified technicians also receive brand-specific training directly from manufacturers.
We invest in our team's training year-round because modern vehicles β with their high-strength steel, aluminum panels, and integrated safety systems β require precise, up-to-date knowledge to repair safely.
